i can't swim [ansi022]
here's something slightly out of character for us... it's beatless to be sure, but it's not quite ambient, in truth. "i can't swim" is a short but demanding listening experience and stands in stark contrast with the majority of the ansiform catalogue. very unsettling on first listen, but it becomes eerily comfortable with increasing familiarity.

6 dialektus horribilis [ac015] - x-flow
6 dialektus horribilis is maybe the x-flow's most difficult listening recording to date. It's been recorded also live at the abdicate cell. This time the main instrument has been a radio, but has been also used guitar, microphon, and some drum programing.

Holavak - DJSzoWhat?
This is a group of LO-FI SOUND experiments. Musical at times, but often long distempo loops becoming noisescapes. They dull the edge of rhythm and play with the limits of comprehensible expression. Field recordings cut, pasted, filtered, blasted then reinterpreted. AM/FM radio solos. Most tracks previously home-published as HOLAVAK by DJSzoWhat? Two tracks are remixes of Algebrassiere songs, and GlassBassBreath is a new experiment with a great piece of noise software designed by Leafcutter John...

Mrs. Danvers - The Stryper Death Machine [ML-R30] - Mrs. Danvers
This is our first mp3 release ever. It exists because of two things: the movie Creepshow and the Zork games. I believe it was made because of a cat or in homage to a cat. Needless to say, a cat was involved in some way. I'm still not sure what any of this has to do with Stryper or death or machines. Anulos qui animum ostendunt omnes gestemus!

PNACOMP. 001 - AUTORES VARIOS

Difficult Listening is a weekly radio show broadcast from WRFN-LPFM (Radio Free Nashville) in Pasquo, Tennessee. The two-hour show starts every Sunday at 10 am Central time; the second hour of the show, archived here, is always about poetry. Sometimes I interview a poet, but more often I read from, and discuss, a recent book of poetry. The show can be streamed live at www.radiofreenashville.org.

BlackSmoke V. - DJSzoWhat?
The fifth piece in the BlackSmoke collection, this darker soundscape uses samples from previous works (from MysteryTraining on HOLAVAK) combined with new material all mashed together with free software by Leafcutter John. I can't say enough about the potential of his software. I'm hoping some of that comes through in the work. I've also managed to get this one down to under ten minutes! Contact: email@example.com

BlackSmoke VI. - DJSzoWhat?
Installment Six (Track 8) of the Black Smoke compilation, a noise improvisation by DJSzowhat. A slightly belligerent, slightly dynamic slight on the dub genre. Contact: firstname.lastname@example.org

BlackSmoke I. - DJSzoWhat?
Improvisational music experiment by DJSzoWhat? a.k.a. Mark Richards, member of ill-famed noise ensemble: Algebrassiere. The second in a series of works created entirely with free and fantastic software FoolsDicta-V1 from Leafcutter John. These improvised works were done with a number of original 'organic' samples, and the suggestion of constant rhythym-modulation was the intention. Contact: email@example.com

BlackSmoke IV. - DJSzoWhat?
Two of my early experiments with Leafcutter John's free software foolsDicta V1 came out great when mixed together! Experiments in lo-fi noise and rhythm. Contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
Keywords: Avantgarde; Lo-Fi; uneasy listening; Improvisation; Experimental; Noise; Difficult Listening; Cacaphonica
BlackSmoke II. - DJSzoWhat?
A mash of noise, sound and music using free Leafcutter John software (foolsDicta v1). Second part of the collection of experiments called Black Smoke. This experiment was slightly edited for length and toyed with for the hell of it. I performed this seven times, creating versions ranging from 5-20 min. This was the best overall effort. |BlackSmoke III. - DJSzoWhat?|
DJ Szowhat's latest quasi-improv noise pieces made using the free software FoolsDicta V1 from Leafcutter John. These were edited for length and are primordially lo-fi. Constantly morphing, dynamic, somehow 'rhythmatic' atmospheres building and destroying one another. ...Or am I just excited about the software? These are experiments and I'm interested in and appreciate any and all comments, questions and feedback...

Brandau feat. DIAL ::::: Pacifica (single cut) - Brandau featuring J. Ham and R. Smith (DIAL)
The recording was done analog, combining conventional instruments such as a Fender Strat.(Jacqui Ham), bass/tapes (Brandau) and drums (Rob Smith). In the mix I used a lot of pedals, echos and my mixing desk, made cutups / samples of some livesounds with a little SU10 and arranged a complete new track: Pacifica. This is old school improvisation with analog sounds edited and mastered in the digital age...
